Real Estate Math

= Our house on Anderson Hill Road in Purchase, NY =
<> When I retired in 1984, we sold it for approximately $300,000. It is currently listed by a Westchester Real Estate Agency to be sold for $1,325,000. We moved to Heritage Hills in Somers, New York and purchased a Canaan Model residence for $135,000. Canaan residences now sell for nearly $500,000
<> In 1626, Peter Minuit, of the Dutch West Indies Company, bought Manhattan Island from its native Indians for 60 Dutch guilders, a sum later calculated to be about $24. As far as we know, no deeds were transferred and the transaction was not notarized. Afterward, the Island was named New Amsterdam. But not for long! In 1664 a British Fleet sailed into the harbor and the Dutch, under the governance of Peter Stuyvesant, surrendered. The British renamed the Island, New York, in honor of the Duke of York, brother of the British King Charles.
<> Biblical history records that Adam and Eve were evicted from the Garden of Eden but it neglects to say if they were reimbursed. Nor does it disclose the identity of those who moved into their vacated premises.
<> Albert Einstein’s theory of relativity is not comprehensive enough to make fiscal sense of all the above. But what Galileo muttered under his breath, while being inquisitioned, may provide a clearer rationale. He was overheard to say, "E pur si muove" - and so it goes." up, up and away!

I went online to look at the house when Dad told me that it was for sale. I took the virtual tour and it looked so different. I have such fond memories of all the time I spent there as a little girl and later as a teenager. It is incredible how much real estate goes up in such a relatively short amount of time. Aunt Linda and Uncle Bruce got it right getting into real estate! In this area people are paying lots of money!

At 9:27am today, Aug 15, 2005, the following comment by Terry Carusona was made and sent to The Hornblower. But for some unexplained technical reason, it did not register on the Blog. I copied it, verbatim - Dom Gabriele, The Hornblower

"I met this most amazing couple Sunday 8/14/2005, while I was doing an Open House for my Real Estate Company, Weichert, in Rye, NY

A Dr. Gabriele and his lovely wife stopped in because they saw this home was up for sale and that he was the very one who built it and raised his family in it in the late 50's. An amazing quirk or a coincidence?

He told me more things about this home than I knew from the owners, which I later shared with them when they came home.

I thank you both for the pleasure of meeting you. You passed thru my life that very day and at that very moment some 21 odd years later to that very place where you started your lives (referring to Heritage Hills in Somers)"

PRICELESS!!!!
