Quo Vadis (?)

Where is your brain taking you?
Please click on the Archive labeled February 2008 and scroll to "Our Next President" my February 6th post. I want to demonstrate that what we consider "breaking news" today, was already clearly discerned by a political naif like me, almost 3 months ago. How can that happen?
I believe that the political opinions most of us hold are indistinguishable from those propagated by the news sources we individually rely upon. And because we tend to remain hostage to those sources, we don't often change the substance or direction of our thinking. Unfortunately, we rarely ask ourselves why and how we came to be on the political courses we so assiduously follow.
To balance our points of view it would be helpful to expand and diversify our sources. We need to draw honestly and extensively from the right, the left, the centers and even the extremes, because the fewer our sources, the greater our propensity for bias. But by challenging ourselves and refreshing our cerebration, we can strengthen our perspicacity and attain greater legitimacy of our views.
In the name of civility, don't we owe our family, our friends and even ourselves, at least an occasional epiphany?
Barack Obama has abandoned his more than two-year shunning of "FOX News Sunday," He recently accepted an invitation to appear on FOX's national morning talk show (April 27) where he will be interviewed by Chris Wallace ~ FOX News
Dom ~ I am so glad to see that you are back in the saddle with your wit and compassion regarding the world's problems. I love the way that you focus in and simplify how we should look at a situation. I hope that you and Lenore are enjoying good health and good times as we are doing, here in Florida ~ Stan Zeller

Fox Sex Mix

Don’t know about you folks but I don't find it hard to believe that Fox news is now deliberately accenting its program with liberal doses of libido. Except for its occasional brunette, like the demure Julie Banderas, there is now a plethora of beautiful blondes, like Megyn Kelly, increasingly interspersed throughout nearly all of its news reportage.
While I have no personal objection to being titillated by what would otherwise be an austere, triple distilled, de-sexualized presentation of current events, I am beginning to wonder, for Fox’s sake, if it is treading on dangerous erotic ground. Can these excursions into libidinal latitudes be indefinitely sustained without it seriously affecting the caliber and balance of its main raison d’etre?
To critically assay what I am saying, I urge you when you next view Fox news to take notice of all its male icons as they now relate to their female counterparts. Look closely at their demeanor. You will not fail to notice that their expressions have taken on a distinct element of lust. And see if you don’t become acutely aware that the Julies and the Megyns are thoroughly enjoying the effects they are producing.
Please forgive me. All of the above is the opining of a decrepit senescent in his mid-nineties. In truth, I have developed a great affection for all of Fox’s women. Freak the news!

Dear Julie and Megyn ~ If this Post comes to your attention, please know that I regard both of you as supremely adorable and matchlessly competent. You add exciting perspectives to Fox news ~ Dom Gabriele
Dom ~ You certainly have not lost your sense of humor! I especially chuckled at your alliterative phrase describing titillation as an excursion into "libidinal latitudes" ~ Ciao, Paolucci
Dommie ~ Leave it to you to notice the "sex sells" ploy by Fox News. I guess we could say that the newscasters are real "FOXES" Only my Dommie!!! ~ Chrissy

Vice President Rice (?)

Dr. Condoleezza Rice

It is being bruited that Secretary of State Dr. Condoleezza Rice will be asked by Senator McCain to be his VP running mate. By any parameter, it would be a celestially inspired choice for him (and the nation, if he is elected).

Condy is a brilliant and dynamic young woman. Stanford University has been importuning her relentlessly to return there to serve as its Provost. The NFL, a singularly multiracial and multiethnic enterprise of great magnitude and diversity, waits with bated breath for her to agree to be its chief executive. Countless other organizations yearn for Dr. Condoleezza Rice to be at their helm.

Factor into her equation that in only a few short years she has spread eagled the entire globe in her capacity as a top ranking executive diplomat. Her views and counsel are avidly sought and coveted, here and abroad, by the highest levels of government.

With her at his side in the presidential campaign, Senator McCain would yield no gender or racial advantages to whomever his Democratic opponent will be. Indeed, he could confront his opposition with a VP candidate of substantially superior experience and a competence that is already universally acknowledged.

And for those who obsess about McCain’s advancing age, with Condoleezza near him to spell him if he falters, the insurance she provides for him (and our nation) is indubitable and immeasurable. And to top it off, she is a debater with few peers, a snappy dresser and a virtuoso at the piano.
